Synopsis

This is the story of politicians and fixers including a king-maker. Iqbal is listless because his wife Sarada is minister but he himself is powerless because of a righteous prime minister who insists there should be “no blood in politics”. The PM’s rival waiting in the wings is more colourful and devious. Iqbal plots with his tycoon friend Thomas and anoints a new PM, Jaggu, a youngster with a mental problem and a tragic back-story, which Iqbal doesn’t know about. Soon the PM is made a figure-head and a committee of five is placed at the helm. In the midst of intrigues and counter intrigues, the PM’s rival is murdered. All hell breaks loose and Iqbal is arrested, the PM resigns and the Five gains full control. The play explores many loopholes in the political system and what could happen if puppeteers take over the administration. The play has been published by Adisakrit as part of an anthology titled 'Five and Other Plays', available on Amazon.
